14 September 2021 Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Uruskyi visited the National Space Management and Testing Center of the State Space Agency of Ukraine.
He announced this on his page in Facebook.
The Deputy Prime Minister got acquainted with the subsystem for monitoring thermal anomalies and targeted consumer information, which the Center created on its own. This rather important decision facilitates the timely detection and elimination of forest fires, losses from which hundreds of millions of hryvnias are estimated annually in Ukraine alone. Specialists of the center managed to reduce the time of the beginning of reception before receipt by the user (up to the foresters) processed information about the potential location of the fire from a few hours after receiving images to about 30 min, which is a fairly high figure. This will allow to react in time and prevent fires on the territory of Ukraine. This monitoring subsystem has already successfully proven itself in several months of direct use in a number of regions of Ukraine. Importantly, that the Ukrainian satellite “Jan-2-30”, which will soon be launched into space orbit, will be one of the good tools for obtaining information when using this subsystem.
In addition, Oleg Urusky heard reports on the state of readiness of the ground segment to work on receiving and transmitting data from spacecraft “Jan-2-30”. The flight control center is almost ready for use, individual elements of the data reception and transmission system are being finalized, Software, as well as staff training. In the near future the main part of the preparatory work will be completed. Actually, today everything is happening within the approved calendar plan.
