US military intelligence agency (THERE) presented a new analytical report “Golden Dome for America: Current and Future Missile Threats to the U.S. Homeland”, which contains unclassified information about current and future missile threats to US territory. The report is part of the information support of the Golden Dome program, a large-scale initiative to create a high-tech air defense shield to protect the American territory from all types of missile attacks.
According to the document, over the next decade, the threat to the US from as usual, and nuclear means of delivery will increase significantly both in quantity, as well as in qualitative dimensions. In the report, DIA classifies potential threats into six main categories:
- Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM)
- Ballistic missiles from submarines (SLBM)
- Two types of hypersonic systems
- Ground-based cruise missiles
- Fractional orbital bombardment systems (FOBS)
Special attention is paid to the growth of the capabilities of such countries, like China, Russia, North Korea and Iran, in the development of modern high-precision and difficult-to-intercept means of delivery, including hypersonic weapons and non-standard orbital trajectories.
DIA's mission is to provide up-to-date military intelligence on foreign armies and their environment, in order to prevent wars and ensure victory in potential conflicts. For over 60 years of existence, the agency provides support from advanced combat units to the highest political echelons.
This review confirms the strategic necessity of the Golden Dome project, which provides for the creation of a single anti-missile defense system with space sensors, ground radars, orbital interceptors and electronic warfare capabilities.
