16 June 2026 of the year Dawn Aerospace attracted 25 million dollars in a Series B round. The funds are planned to be used for the global expansion of the business, creation of teams in the USA and Europe for the development of three main directions: engines for satellites, the Loop refueling system in space and the Aurora suborbital spacecraft.
For reference: Dawn Aerospace is an innovative New Zealand-Dutch space transportation company, specializing in the creation of reusable spaceplanes and environmentally friendly satellite communication and propulsion systems.
Dawn already sells engines for spacecraft, who worked over 20 missions. The company's key projects are the Aurora unmanned suborbital spacecraft and the Loop orbital refueling system (demonstration in space is planned for 2028 year, and commercial services on 2029 year). Current versions of the Aurora reach the speed of sound at altitude 25 km. The company is developing a variant, able to go beyond 100 km and develop speeds above Mach 3 (or Mach 3 is speed, which is three times the speed of sound). The first spaceplane flights from Space Port Oklahoma are scheduled for 2027 year.
Dan Vollman, an investor of the venture fund Balerion, which led the Series B round, stated, that Dawn creates a practical path from engines and refueling to reusable hypersonic access to space, which is especially important for the national security of the United States and its allies.
