28 May 2025 year Fr. 17:31 (UTC) from the center of launch of satellites Sichan, China, using a launch vehicle «Long March 3B/E» Chinese CA was launched «Tianwen-2».
Chinese space probe «Tianwen-2» is a planned Chinese mission to return samples from an asteroid and study a comet. The probe will use solar energy to study a near-Earth asteroid 469219 Kamoʻoalewa and main belt comets 311P/PANSTARRS. Scheduled, that the spacecraft will meet with 469219 Kamoʻoalewa and will conduct remote sensing from orbit, and then land on an asteroid, to collect a regolith sample weighing approximately 1000g. After the delivery of the samples to Earth «Tianwen-2» will continue his mission. It will use gravity support, to set course for the main belt comet 311P/PANSTARRS. Arrival at the comet is scheduled in approx 7 years.
Carrier rocket «Long March 3B/E» one of the most successful launch vehicles of the CZ-3 series. The additional "E" designation means a larger payload fairing, and increased fuel tanks of the launch vehicle.
