Preparation of the EIA began immediately after the first landing of the Falcon 9 to a marine platform in the waters of the Bahamas, which has taken place 18 February 2025 year. As part of the arrangements between the Bahamas and SpaceX, the government works closely with the company and the Department of Planning and Environmental Protection (DEPP), to ensure that there is no negative impact on the environment before the next landings begin.
The assessment must confirm, that the environmental conditions in the landing zone remained unchanged after the mission was completed. DEPP conducts relevant observations and analytical studies, to provide accurate conclusions.
Expected, that the EIA report will be completed and submitted for consideration during the summer. After that, a series of public discussions in the format of "town halls" are planned in the Bahamas, під час яких громадян ознайомлять із потенційними екологічними аспектами майбутніх посадок.
