A Memorandum was signed between the State Space Agency of Ukraine and the British Space Agency

16 March 2026 A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between DKA and the British Space Agency on cooperation in the field of peaceful use and exploration of outer space.

On behalf of the British side, the document was signed by the Director General of the British Space Agency, Dr. Paul Bate, from Ukrainian (on behalf of DKA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Great Britain, General Valery Zaluzhny. The signing took place in the premises of the Embassy of Ukraine in Great Britain.

The signed Memorandum lays the foundation for cooperation between the parties, contributing to the development of cooperation between Ukrainian and British enterprises in the space industry, expansion of information exchange, experience and technologies, as well as implementation of joint initiatives in priority areas. The document also contributes to the implementation of the provisions of the Agreement on the 100-year partnership between Ukraine and Great Britain, concluded in January 2025 year.

On the occasion of the signing of the document, Volodymyr Mikheev, Acting Chairman of the DKA, noted:

"The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Space Agency of Ukraine and the British Space Agency is an important step in strengthening cooperation between our countries in the space sphere.

We highly appreciate the opportunity to start a closer dialogue and exchange of experiences between our agencies, and to bring our national space sectors together. I am sure, that our partnership will contribute to the development of joint space initiatives for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and Great Britain".

In turn, British Space Agency Director General Dr Paul Bate said:

"Space is a key element of modern economies — from communications and navigation to climate monitoring and infrastructure sustainability. This agreement is an important step in strengthening our partnership with Ukraine in the civil and commercial space sector.

Working together, we can support innovation, open up new commercial opportunities for British and Ukrainian organizations and use space technology to achieve real results for our citizens".

On the eve of the signing of the Memorandum, the British side announced its readiness to make a contribution in the amount 100 000 Euros for Ukraine's implementation of projects within the framework of the European Space Agency (ЕКА) in accordance with the Implementation Agreement between DKA and ESA regarding the provision of technical and expert support from 30 October 2025 year.

Such a step, definitely, will be a significant contribution to bringing Ukraine's space sector closer to the European space ecosystem.
