The US State Department has approved a possible contract for the supply of satellite communication services and related support to Ukraine worth up to 150 millions of dollars. The relevant decision has already been submitted to the Congress.
Ukraine requested continued access to Starlink services for its terminals. Apart from the services themselves, the agreement will include technical, engineering and logistics support from government agencies and contractor companies.
Expected, that it will strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the field of communications, will help to respond more effectively to current and future threats, and will also contribute to increasing the level of regional security. At the same time, the agreement will not change the overall military balance in the region.
The company Starlink Services was selected as the executor of the project (Hawthorne, California). Additional presence of representatives of the US government or the company in Ukraine is not required. The sale will not affect the defense readiness of the United States.
The announced value of the deal is the maximum preliminary estimate. The final amount will depend on the needs of Ukraine, budget and conditions of the signed contracts.
