Ukrainian drones hit the space communications center in the suburbs of Moscow

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces (GSh ZS) Of Ukraine, "Dubna" space communication center was hit, located in the north of the Moscow region. According to available information, the center provided satellite telephone communication, as well as the broadcasting of TV channels through space vehicles in Earth orbit.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported, that on the night of 21 on 22 June 2026 Ukrainian UAVs hit Russia's Dubna space communications center. The peculiarity of the center is that, that it is located in the north of the Moscow region, not far from the capital of the aggressor country, and should theoretically be protected by its air defense system. The center is located on the territory of the city of the same name in the Moscow region, known as the nuclear research center. It was built in 1980 year, and since then the main goal has become the broadcasting of the events of the Olympics to the whole world. However, after its completion, two large antennas, which were placed there began to be used for various purposes. When satellite telephone communication began to develop in Russia, his work was largely provided through the "Dubna" center. That is why this facility has been repeatedly modernized and improved. In particular, it was through him that communication with Eutelsat devices was organized. It is quite possible, that it was used not only to provide civilian communications and broadcast Moscow propaganda, but also for military purposes.
