The UK government is preparing to publish a new space strategy

This was reported by the director of the Space Agency of Great Britain (UK Space Agency) Anuwen Evernden. A new document is developed after that, as in April 2026 The Space Agency of Great Britain was officially integrated into the structure of the Ministry of Science, innovations and technologies (DSIT).

The main reasons and details of the strategy update:

The only voice of the government: the agency's merger with the DSIT ministry brought together policy development and operational activities under a single government roof.

Sustainability is a priority: a special focus will be made on the environmental friendliness of space, including monitoring and active removal of space debris.

Business support: the government seeks to create transparent conditions for attracting private companies and licensing new commercial missions in the country.

This update is designed to replace and update the previous National Space Strategy from 2021 year, strengthening Britain's position in the field of commercial and civil space. Also recently, In March 2026 year, Great Britain has concluded the first ever bilateral space agreement with Ukraine for the development of civil and commercial technologies.
