International space competition ActInSpace will be held in Ukraine

The State University "Kyiv Aviation Institute" and the public organization "Maker Hub" invite all interested parties to take part in the innovative space competition ActInSpace, which will take place on January 30-31 2026 year. Representatives take part in the event 50 countries.

ActInSpace is an international 24-hour hackathon, where teams work on real challenges, using space technologies, data, patents and infrastructure for projects with great social or commercial potential. The competition was created for that, to inspire participants to create startups and solutions, that will change our life on Earth.

For 24 hours, the team must find a solution to the problem in one of the categories:

Space0 - to become a new player in the space industry;

Business in Everyday Life - create a business idea based on space technologies;

Humanitarian – find a solution for a humanitarian task;

Fly to the Moon and Beyond - to create large-scale innovations of the future.

Teams of two to five people can participate in the competition, among whom must be adults, who operate or reside in the country, where one of the organizers is located (entrepreneurs, students, researchers, developers, users, designers and space experts, job seekers etc) and/or legal entities under private law (associations, companies), represented by a person, authorized to participate in this competition, without citizenship restrictions.

Experts from the space industry and business will be present at the ActInSpace hackathon, who will advise and accompany the participants. Teams will work with technology and data, exclusively provided by the French National Space Research Center and the European Space Agency (THIS), as well as with mentoring groups and will present their ideas to an international jury.

The winning team of the Ukrainian ActInSpace 2026 will go to the international final in Bordeaux in April (France) and will compete for the grand prize of a ZeroG zero-gravity flight on an ESA aircraft. Prizes from Ukrainian partners are also waiting for the participants, Among them 2 grants for 2500 euro for teams, which will be selected separately from the general competition, and electronics kits and vouchers for two winners from MySat Kit. Participation in the hackathon is free. Participants can register in ready-made teams or individually, and also create a new team with the help of organizers.

Competition stages:

  1. 30– January 31 in the form of an offline international hackathon + online format. Venue of the offline part: Kyiv (details will be provided later);
  2. 1– April 2 in Bordeaux (France) the winners of the local stages will compete for entry to the international semi-finals and finals.
