The Infostellar company was chosen by the Ministry of Defense of Japan to implement the project "Demonstration of satellite radio frequency analysis technology". This is the first contract, concluded within the framework of the new state procurement strategy, which involves the involvement of innovative startup solutions in interagency defense projects.
Satellite technologies have become a critical infrastructure for both civilian use and navigation, communication, monitoring — as well as for military operations, including command, control and intelligence gathering. At the same time, more and more countries are developing and testing means, capable of disabling enemy satellites, which poses a serious threat to the sustainable use of space.
In the conditions of growing geopolitical tensions, strengthening capabilities in the field of Space Domain Awareness (SDA), that is, observation and analysis of activity in outer space, became a key direction of Japan's National Defense Strategy.
Within the framework of the new project, Infostellar will demonstrate the technology of analyzing the characteristics of satellite radio signals and creating a corresponding database, which will allow to effectively identify potentially threatening objects in orbit.
Company from 2018 provides cloud-based solutions for satellite operations through the StellarStation platform, which provides access to a global network of ground control satellite stations. Its platform allows for the integration of disparate segments of satellite management through a single interface, which became the basis of trust on the part of the defense department.
This contract not only strengthens Japan's defense infrastructure in space, but also demonstrates the practical integration of commercial technologies into the sphere of national security. Infostellar is an example of that, how startups can play a leading role in transforming 21st century defense strategies.
