Andøya Space and Rheinmetall Nordic join forces to strengthen European space capabilities

Norwegian company Andøya Space and Rheinmetall Nordic AS (RhN) signed a letter of intent to cooperate in the development of commercial opportunities for civil and military space operations. The purpose of partnership is to ensure rapid deployment of satellites and space assets to meet the growing security needs in Europe.

Collaboration will focus on removing the gaps in the supply chain, related to satellites and rocket launches from the Andøya Spaceport in Norway. It is planned to provide both regular commercial launches, as well as flexible possibilities of rapid response from the territory of Europe.

The key direction will be the creation of potential for Tactical Responsive Launch (TacRL) — tactical operational launches, which guarantee safe and stable control of satellites with the shortest reaction time.

The partnership is essential to support Germany's strategic space infrastructure, Norway, NATO countries and other partners. It is aimed at achieving the strategic autonomy of Europe, increasing efficiency, rapid introduction of new opportunities and strengthening of competitive advantages in the modern geopolitical situation.
