ArbaLabs confirms operation of orbital AI verification module on board South Korean Nuri rocket

13 October 2026 of the year Korea Aerospace Administration (FAIL) officially confirmed the establishment of a successful two-way communication of the SD-1 Sat nanosatellite with ground stations on the first attempt. The specified spacecraft was launched into orbit 7 October 2026 of the year from the Naro Cosmodrome during the fifth flight of the three-stage Nuri launch vehicle (KSLV-II).

On board SD-1 Sat, operated by Korean space startup Space & Bean, ArbaLabs' ArbaEdge payload is hosted. This frontier computing module performs an orbital demonstration of the concept of autonomous verification of artificial intelligence in space flight conditions.

The SD-1 Sat satellite provides power, thermal control and radio communication for the ArbaEdge demonstrator. The ArbaEdge system forms independent, tamper-proof records of the on-board AI model's execution directly on physical hardware. The module functions completely autonomously, without using terrestrial communication channels or cloud services, which allows you to confirm the identity of the model, operational context and integrity of computing in the remote orbital environment.

The mission corresponds to the priorities of the national space strategy of the Republic of Korea, aimed at the development of the commercial segment and the qualification of domestic subsystems, equipment and software solutions with the help of Nuri rocket launches. The successful establishment of two-way communication confirms the functionality of the main bus of the spacecraft and creates conditions for the start of full-fledged testing of the payload.

During the planned four-month operational campaign in low Earth orbit, the ArbaEdge module will perform autonomous verification cycles to assess the accountability of artificial intelligence systems in the space environment. Since the mission has the status of a preliminary demonstration of the technology, detailed verification metrics and performance results will remain internal for several months until further public release.
