Shenzhou-21 astronauts completed their third spacewalk

16 April 2026 In 2018, the astronauts of the Chinese Shenzhou-21 spacecraft named Zhang Lu and Wu Fei conducted a 5.5-hour extravehicular activity (EVA) outside Tiangong Space Station, having successfully completed his task.

During the spacewalk, taikonauts installed protection equipment against micrometeoroids and orbital debris, and also conducted an inspection of the orbital outpost, after which they returned to the airlock chamber of the Wentian experimental module. Zhang Lu has now completed a total of seven spacewalks, setting a new record for the number of EVAs, performed by a Chinese astronaut.

China Administration of Manned Space Exploration (CMSEO) reported, that the crew will continue to perform scientific experiments and technical tests in orbit for the rest of the mission and celebrate China's Space Day (24 April) on board the station. China will celebrate its first National Space Day, chosen for the anniversary of the launch of the first Chinese satellite Dongfanghong-1 in 1970 year.

Tianwen-2 approaches the target asteroid for detailed study. Maneuvers can begin in June, and at the beginning of July, according to unofficial data, the device will reach the near-Earth asteroid Kamo'olewa.
