18 February 2026 Axelspace Corporation has announced the formation of a consortium with four other organizations to promote co-creation of businesses in Africa's space sector..
The association included four key Japanese organizations:
Axelspace Corporation – a leading developer of microsatellites.
ArkEdge Space Inc. – developer of microsatellite groups.
Cross U – general incorporated association, which promotes innovation.
Double Feather Partners – company, specializing in venture capital and corporate consulting with a focus on markets, that are developing.
Key objectives and strategy:
A new model of cooperation: The consortium aims to go beyond traditional ODA (ODA), directly combining advanced Japanese technology with the dynamism of the private sector in African countries.
Infrastructure integration: The project involves the introduction of Japanese digital infrastructure (Satellite systems, data platforms) into the social and economic foundations of Africa.
Fields of application: Priority directions are precision agriculture, climate change monitoring (dry up, floods), forestry management and urban planning.
Localization: Instead of simply transferring technology, the purpose is to, for local businesses to independently manage and monetize services based on satellite data.
Further steps:
In April 2026 members of the consortium are planning a visit to Africa to discuss specific projects with local public and private institutions. Updated results will be presented at Nihonbashi Space Week 2026 In November.
