Axelspace Corporation signs multi-launch program agreement with Exolaunch to support series of missions using Axelspace microsatellites. This agreement covers multi-launch programs and is intended to provide launch access and mission management for Axelspace programs, including new spacecraft, intended for on-orbit technology demonstration services.
According to the agreement, one satellite is planned to be launched as part of the AxelLiner in-orbit demonstration, known as AxelLiner Laboratory. in addition, Exolaunch has already booked launch opportunities for eight Axelspace satellites for future missions.
Axelspace operates the AxelLiner Lab, або AL Lab, as a service, which focuses on the demonstration of space components in orbit, developed by customers. The service is based on short development cycles and AxelLiner's approach to mass production, the purpose of which is to provide opportunities for equipment flights, which requires space trials.
Demonstrations in orbit are difficult to do quickly, as launch opportunities are irregular, and the process from payload selection to launch can take several years. The space policy of the Japanese government, including activities within the framework of the Space Strategic Fund, focuses on building a domestic supply chain for satellites, what, in turn, drives demand for timely testing of new satellite components in orbit from Japan.
To address these limitations, Axelspace structured the AL Lab to respond to specialized on-orbit demonstration needs, using shorter development times and higher production rates, provided by AxelLiner. At the same time, the company defines the task of providing launch slots, which correspond to the required schedules and orbital parameters, as a key operational risk, as global demand for satellite launches increases.
