Dcubed Powers Ahead presented ARAQYS – an energy solution for space

18 November 2025 year company Dcubed GmbH, a leader in the production of means of return, space structures and production technologies in space (ISM), today announced the expansion of its activities into space energy systems with the introduction of ARAQYS - an energy solution for space to supply affordable, scalable and unlimited energy in orbit.

After that, like SpaceX, Rocket Lab and other companies have revolutionized access to space by lowering launch costs and increasing capacity, a new generation of orbital applications has emerged: data centers in orbit, vehicles with high delta-V momentum, direct communication devices and defensive constellations. Each of them has a common problem: huge demand for affordable and scalable energy.

ARAQYS solves this problem, offering a full range of solutions for space energy - from traditional solar cells to our own subsystems of solar cells with a capacity of one kW, made in space and, eventually, to space power plants, able to radiate energy there, where it is needed. This technology aims to significantly reduce the cost of a kilowatt, laying the foundation for the space infrastructure and directed energy platforms of the future.

Dcubed announced the ARAQYS-D3 mission, the launch of which is planned for the first quarter 2027 year aboard the SpaceX Rideshare spacecraft. This mission will demonstrate the power of the solar cell 2 kW, made in space, with combined application options in energy emission and its direction, as well as the use of this energy by an electric motor for maneuvering.

The ARAQYS-D3 satellite will be built by Astro Digital, supplier of traditional space platforms, located just a few miles from Dcubed USA headquarters in Berthoud, State of Colorado. This proximity allows for close collaboration between the European and American teams, symbolizing transatlantic cooperation in advancing the next era of space systems.

The launch of ARAQYS-D3 is organized by Maverick Space Systems, which will also provide launch management and satellite integration services. Maverick support will help Dcubed optimize the startup process, reduce risks and allow focus on the ARAQYS-D3 mission.

The ARAQYS-D3 spacecraft and the ISM solar array will be manufactured at the Dcubed facilities in Munich, Germany, and Bert, Colorado, USA, demonstrating the company's bi-continental manufacturing capabilities and readiness to produce megawatt capacity. ARAQYS-D3 builds on two predecessor missions, which are already integrated and ready to launch as part of two separate SpaceX vehicle-sharing missions in the first quarter 2026 year: demo Dcubed-1 (ARAQYS-D1) – cubesat 3U-satellite; ARAQYS-D2, which will print and deploy a 1-meter ISM solar array aboard Exotrail's next SpaceVan mission.

These demonstrations will confirm the basic principles of power generation in space, paving the way for the multi-kilowatt ARAQYS-D3 system. After seven years of building capacity and supplying more than 1500 more than flight-tested products 120 customers on four continents, Dcubed leverages its deep expertise in developing deployable mechanisms to enable the next phase of orbital industrialization

Dcubed GmbH creates the foundation for the space industry of the future. From the launch mechanisms to the deployment of the ISM ARAQYS solar arrays, Dcubed technologies allow spacecraft to build, to collect and feed themselves and others directly in orbit. Working from Munich, Germany, and Bertuda, Colorado, USA, Dcubed's vision is to create an affordable, scalable infrastructure, which ensures the use of space in low Earth orbit, The moon and beyond.
