Farady Factory Japan and Zenno Astronautics combined efforts to develop new generation superconducting magnets, intended for use in orbital systems

Faraday Factory Japan is a world leader in the production of superconducting tape. entered into a partnership with the New Zealand company Zenno Astronautics to improve high-temperature superconductors (HTS) magnets, optimized for space conditions.

Building on over thirty years of experience in HTS materials science, The Faraday Factory adapts its materials to the extreme demands of the orbital environment. As part of the cooperation, the company will supply Zenno with the latest HTS tapes, including the Mirai model, presented in July 2025 year, for integration into Zenno superconducting coils.

The goal of the partnership is to increase the efficiency of superconductors by increasing the working capacity reserves, reducing the mass of systems, improving energy efficiency and reducing activation time. Expected, that these improvements will improve the performance of key Zenno products, in particular the Z01 Supertorquer system, a superconducting orientation control device.

The company Zenno noted, that the use of Mirai HTS tape can significantly increase the performance of the Supertorquer, providing a faster response and a more powerful magnetic dipole while maintaining compact dimensions and high energy efficiency, which ultimately will contribute to better maneuverability in space.

Faraday Factory Japan strategy director Serhiy Samoilenkov emphasized, that the joint work of the two companies demonstrates the potential of material science innovations to significantly increase the efficiency of high-temperature superconducting devices. He also emphasized the importance of close technical cooperation between Faraday Factory and Zenno Astronautics experts to achieve practical results.
