The French company Unseenlabs is launching a second-generation radio frequency sounding satellite

7 July 2026 In 2015, the French company Unseenlabs successfully launched the BRO-31 satellite, the first device of its second generation (Gen 2). The satellite was launched into orbit using a Falcon rocket 9 of the SpaceX company within the mission Transporter-17 from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

This launch marks the company's transition from purely marine monitoring to comprehensive multi-domain RF tracking (RF) signals at sea, on land and in space.

Unique monosatellite technology: Unlike competitors, which require a group of several satellites for geolocation of the signal source, Unseenlabs technology allows one satellite to independently and accurately determine the coordinates of a radiation source in an area of ​​up to 1 million square kilometers.

Launch Gen 2 is taking place against the background of the aggravation of the geopolitical situation in the world. New satellite capabilities are critical for the defense sector: Anti-jamming GPS (GNSS): The satellite is able to instantly fix and localize sources of active radio electronic suppression (REB) on land and sea. Cosmic situational awareness: The device can monitor radio frequency interference and attempts to intercept signals directly between other orbiting satellites, protecting the space infrastructure. Detection of military equipment: Monitoring of the electromagnetic spectrum allows detection of hidden air defense systems and command posts.

Currently, the total constellation of Unseenlabs satellites in orbit includes 23 appliances.
