India is stepping up security and spectrum protection measures, limiting the uncontrolled access of Starlink and NTN

The Indian government has tightened regulatory and national security restrictions on foreign satellite mega-groups, including Starlink. A key requirement is mandatory termination of all satellite traffic (voice, data, broadband access) at certified ground stations, located exclusively on the territory of India. This makes it impossible to use offshore gateways and intersatellite optical channels to bypass national control.

Special attention is paid to the segment of non-terrestrial networks (NTN)

National telecommunications operators oppose the administrative allocation of satellite spectrum, seeing it as a competitive advantage for foreign groups. At the same time, they develop their own satellite solutions in partnership with international providers, strengthening the national orbital presence.

Foreign LEO operators will be able to operate in the market only under conditions of strict anchoring to local ground infrastructure and full compliance with national security requirements for satellite communication.
