01 April 2025 year Fr. 01:46 (UTC) from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, using a launch vehicle «Falcon 9 Block 5» the US launch vehicle was launched «Crew Dragon» missions «Fram2».
Mission «Fram2» — the world's first flight of astronauts over the poles of the planet on a spacecraft, named after the Norwegian polar research vessel Fram. The flight will last from three to five days and will take place over Antarctica during the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. At this time of year, after the vernal equinox, the South Pole reigns 24 hours of darkness (arctic night), and the opposite is true at the North Pole.
This is the first human flight over the Earth's polar regions in low Earth orbit. On KA «Crew Dragon» a dome is installed, which will make it possible to observe the Earth from a height 425 – 450 km. To date, the highest slope, achieved during human spaceflight, was the Soviet Vostok-6 mission at 65°.
During the flight, the crew will study green fragments and lilac ribbons of continuous emissions, which can be compared to the phenomenon, known as STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement), which is regularly recorded at a height of approx 400-500 km above the Earth's atmosphere. The crew will also conduct various research in cooperation with SpaceX, aimed at a better understanding of the impact of space flight on the human body, including taking the first x-ray images of a person in space, creating tools for Just-in-Time training and studying the health effects of space flight.
