Informational reference on the launch of the Cygnus CRS-2 NG-23 spacecraft

14 September 2025 year Fr. 22:11 (UTC) from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA using a launch vehicle «Falcon 9 Block 5» the US cargo spacecraft was launched «Cygnus CRS-2 NG-23».

«Cygnus CRS-2 NG-23» – it is a transport spaceship, built by Northrop Grumman and named after NASA astronaut S.S. William “Willie” C. McCool.

This spacecraft is designed to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). After completing the mission, it is brought out of orbit and burns up in the dense layers of the atmosphere.

This mission is the 23rd flight of an unmanned spacecraft by Orbital ATK and the 21st flight to the International Space Station under a contract with NASA for commercial services.

On board the ship will be transported close 5000 kilograms of cargo, among which: spare parts for life support systems of the station, equipment for scientific research, elements of control and protection systems, as well as supplies for the crew. This is the first flight in the modification Cygnus XL, which has an increased volume and carrying capacity compared to previous versions.
