Information about the launch of the "Don't Be Such A Square" SC (STP-S30)»

18 December 2025 year Fr. 05:03 (UTC) from the LC-2 launch complex at the Wallops Space Center in Virginia, USA. using a launch vehicle «Electron» a launch was made 4 KA US mission «Don’t Be Such A Square (STP-S30)».

«Don’t Be Such A Square (STP-S30)» – is a test space mission of the Space Test Program-S30 program of the US Space Force, which is aimed at launching experimental small satellites into low Earth orbit to demonstrate new technologies. The main payload of the mission is a technology demonstrator, containing 4 the DiskSat satellite. This is a unique "disk-shaped" platform with a diameter of ~ 1 meters, designed for long-term maintenance tests in very low orbits (VLEO — Very Low Earth Orbit). The main purpose of DiskSat is to demonstrate the possibility of sustainable flight in VLEO and to test the technologies, which increase the "survivability" of satellites at very low altitudes (energy efficiency, thermal control, propulsion system, optics, etc).

DiskSat is designed as an alternative to CubeSat. Due to a much larger surface area, the platform provides a higher energy capacity and allows for the placement of large antennas, radar and scientific instruments, not available for standard cubesats. At the same time, DiskSat maintains compatibility with standard launch containers and uses ready-made CubeSat components, which reduces cost and simplifies start-up.
