Information reference on the launch of the Glonass-K2 spacecraft

3 March 2025 year Fr. 22:22 in UTC from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russian Federation with the help of a launch vehicle "Soyuz-2-1b/Fregat-M" a navigation satellite of the Russian Federation was launched «Glonass-K2».

«Glonass-K» – a series of spacecraft of the Russian global navigation system GLONASS, developed by the company "Information Satellite Systems" named after Academician M. F. Reshetnyova. It is the 3rd generation of satellites of this series (The first generation – "Glonass", The second generation – "Glonass-M"). They differ from the satellites of the previous series by the warranty period of active existence in 10-12 years , reduced mass, leaky performance.

The basis of the GLONASS system is 24 satellites, moving over the surface of the Earth in three orbital planes with the inclination of the orbital planes 64,8 ° and the height of the orbit 19100 km.

Space vehicles «Glonass-K» are built on the basis of the non-hermetic platform "Express 1000". On-board equipment is installed on the parallelepiped-shaped body, able to work in open space conditions. The lack of an airtight container made it possible to reduce the mass of the satellite to 935 Kg (against KA "Glonass-M" – 1415 Kg).
