The Ministry of Defense of Israel, together with the Tsakhal and the State Aerospace Corporation, announced the successful launch of the new secret military satellite "OFEQ -19".
Satellites "Ofeq 19» – equipped with a radar surveillance system and has improved characteristics compared to previous devices. Thanks to this, Israel will be able to expand its control over the situation in the Middle East region, including such states, like Iran and Yemen. The long-term goal of the program is to create an orbital cluster of about twenty small satellites, which will ensure constant monitoring of the entire region. This will allow recording any suspicious movements, and also monitor the implementation of Iranian missile and nuclear projects.
In addition to strategic surveillance, "Ofeq-19" should increase the effectiveness of the Israeli system of early warning of ballistic missile launches and thereby strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
For reasons of national security, the Israeli authorities do not disclose the exact number of operational satellites. Only known, that there are at least three reconnaissance vehicles operating in space: ОЕР «Ofeq-9», "Ofeq -16" and RLR "Ofeq -13", capable of transmitting images with high detail up to several tens of centimeters per pixel.
