5 July 2026 year Fr. 13:43 (UTC) from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center, China, the 20th Chinese Qianfan "G60 Polar Group 14" launch vehicle was launched using the "Long March 8A" launch vehicle.
«QIANFAN» – these spacecraft are developed by Shanghai Spacecom Satellite Technology (SSST) supported by the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Deployment began in August 2024 year of 18 satellites. The first phase is aimed at launch 1296 satellites for regional coverage, and a complete grouping with 15 000 satellites are planned to be launched until 2030 year. Unlike the state-owned company Guowang, Qianfan has a commercial orientation, and trial service agreements have already been signed in Brazil, Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Turkey. The group is positioned as an analogue of the Starlink group.
QIANFAN satellites support intersatellite communication channels (ISL). The key goal of the mission is the mass introduction of high-speed lasers (optical) communication channels (with a speed of 100–200 Gbit/s) to build a dynamic network without the need for permanent tethering to ground stations.
At the moment, the group "QUIAFAN" is 200 identified KA. This launch will expand the grouping of the "QUIAFAN" spacecraft by another 20 KA.
