CA «SXM-10» – a geostationary telecommunications satellite for the American radio broadcasting company SiriusXM, created by Maxar. It will replace the older XM3 and XM4 satellites, which were launched in 2005 and 2006 years, respectively, and will provide the territory of North America with fixed satellite communication and satellite broadcasting services.
Ka «SXM-10» built on the Maxar LS-1300 platform, which is widely used in the commercial satellite industry due to its reliability, flexibility and power. The satellite will generate over 20 kW of energy and has a large diameter antenna reflector 10 meters, which makes it possible to ensure stable signal reception even in difficult conditions — for example, between buildings or at high speed. This is critical for SiriusXM in-car subscribers, which make up the main audience of the service. The starting weight is about 7 tone. It has a design life 15 years.
