The Spanish operator Sateliot is in talks to supply 5G communications to European armies

The Spanish satellite company Sateliot, specializing in narrowband 5G communications, has announced negotiations with a number of European Ministries of Defense to provide satellite communication services for military needs.

The company plans to provide 5G communication in hard-to-reach regions, where there is no conventional mobile coverage. According to the founders, The service is aimed at supporting logistics operations on the battlefield, which has already aroused the interest of several European countries. Specific countries are not disclosed.

Sateliot has entered into an exclusive agreement with defense contractor Indra, who owns 4% company shares, for the supply of satellite services to military users. The cost of connecting one device is planned at the level of approx 2,50 euros per month, subject to a short daily connection.

In addition to the defense sector, Sateliot services can be used by logistics companies, agrarians, oil and gas facilities and environmental programs, who do not need constant broadband Internet.

After the last round of funding, the company attracted 70 million euros of investment, partly in the form of debt obligations. The Spanish state owns 20% of Sateliot shares. The company currently operates five nanosatellites in low Earth orbit, the size of a microwave oven, and serves 12 test clients.

To 2028 year Sateliot plans to deploy a satellite group with approx 100 devices, which will allow voice messages to be transmitted later. Expected, what to 2030 year, the company will reach an annual income of 1 billion euros.
