Spanish aerospace startup PLD Space 4 March 2026 year officially announced the engagement 209 millions of dollars (180 million euros) as part of the Series C funding round. This is the largest round of capital raising for a European private space company this year.
Key aspects of financing:
The main investor: The round was led by the Japanese technology giant Mitsubishi Electric, who invested 50 million euros. As part of the agreement, Mitsubishi gets priority access to launches of small satellites to serve the Asian market.
Other participants: Spanish state funds contributed to the financing (CDTI, COFIDES) and private equity firm Nazca Capital.
Total capital: With this round in mind, the total volume of funds raised by the company since its foundation in 2011 year exceeded 350 million euros.
Development plans:
Production scaling: The funds will be used to transition from prototyping to serial production of the Miura launch vehicle 5.
Launches: Miura's first test flight 5 scheduled for the end 2026 year from the Kourou Cosmodrome in French Guiana.
Commercial purpose: The startup seeks to enter a regular schedule of customer service with 2027 year and reach the pace of 30 launches a year before 2030 year.
This investment is seen as a strategic step to strengthen Europe's space autonomy in the face of global competition.
