The Italian government has officially launched an online service (marketplace) IRIDE for Earth observation, who started work 1 July 2026 year. At the first stage, the platform provides access to satellite images and geospatial analytics, received from the first deployed group of satellites.
Target audience: Currently, the marketplace is open exclusively to Italian government users.
Authorized categories: Registration is available only for three sectors - civil protection, security and defense, as well as state administration bodies.
Technical filter: The registration portal is currently limited to Italian IP addresses only.
Commercial prospects: The official notice on the website notes, that commercial registration for businesses and private companies will be enabled later.
The IRIDE program has a general budget 1,1 billion euros and is financed from the European Pandemic Recovery Fund (PNRR). Coordination is carried out by the European Space Agency (THIS) together with the Italian Space Agency (BUT).
Current status: HEO multispectral groups are currently in orbit (15 running devices) that Eaglet II (16 devices). In total, more than 30 satellites (at the end of March 2026 was in orbit for a year 24 appliances).
The ultimate goal: When fully deployed, the system will consist of 68 satellites, divided into six constellations with different types of sensors: optical, infrared, hyperspectral and synthetic aperture radars (SAR).
