23 April 2026 In 2015, Jordanian Ambassador to the USA Dina Kawar signed the Artemis Agreement on behalf of her country and became the 63rd participating state at the NASA headquarters.. She stated during the ceremony, that accession to the Agreements is part of Jordan's efforts, aimed at transforming the country "into a regional and global hub" in the field of science and technology.
Redwire Space President and former NASA Deputy Administrator Mike Gold (one of the developers of the Agreements), remarked, that notwithstanding, that the Middle East is going through a difficult period, Jordan's signing of the Artemis Accords indicates that, that intentions to continue research and optimistic expectations remain a priority for the Hashemite Kingdom and the region. Gold also noted during his speech, that the reorientation of NASA programs to explore the surface of the Moon and the increase in the frequency of lunar missions create favorable conditions for the development and delivery of payloads by the signatory states, scientific instruments and analytical data for future expeditions.
NASA increasingly uses the Agreements as a tool to coordinate collaboration within the broader Artemis program, especially regarding the lunar base program, which the agency announced
In March.
