Kazakhstan intends to develop an international network of Earth observation satellites numbering up to 14 devices. Mongolia has already joined the project, Republic of Congo and Nigeria. Initial grouping to 2030 year will consist of nine satellites: six from Kazakhstan
and one each from the partner countries. Kazakhstan is open to the accession of other states.
The network will provide monitoring of natural resources, in particular water ones, and tracking changes over large areas. Joint operation will guarantee a comparatively wider coverage
with national systems.
The plans were announced at the Space Days Kazakhstan forum 2026 in Astana. Kazakhstan also participates in the OTS-SAT project, the first joint satellite of the Organization of Turkic States. Its launch is scheduled for 2027 year.
