China is preparing to test the in-flight emergency evacuation of its next-generation Mengzhou spacecraft next week. Image, common in Chinese social networks, showing the first stage of the Changzheng 10A rocket at the new launch pad at the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center. Airspace closure notices indicate a launch window between 21:51 in the Eastern time 10 February and 1:50 11 February (02:51–06:50 UTC 11 February).
For reference: Mengzhou is a new generation Chinese manned spacecraft, designed to replace the Shenzhou series. It is reusable and intended for low-Earth orbit flights and future missions to the moon, capable of accommodating up to 7 crew members.
Images from social media also show a rescue vessel, intended for the implementation of the rope capture system. The vessel may be used either for a recovery attempt, or to simulate the recovery and dewatering of the first stage "Changzheng-10A". Test stage pictures show as mesh stabilizers, and recovery hooks at the top.
A successful test of the ship will pave the way for a potential first full-fledged mission of Mengzhou and the Changzheng-10A rocket into low Earth orbit, and possibly before a visit to the Tiangong space station later this year.
