China has released new details of its ambitious Tianwen-3 mission (Tianwen-3) from the delivery of samples from Mars. For the first time, a UAV with a robotic manipulator will be used for this, able to collect large stones, which can potentially contain traces of life.
Mission, organized by Chinese National Space Management (CNSA), is intended to deliver to the ground 500 grams of Martian material. A stationary landing module will be used for this.
The drone will be able to fly to a distance of more than 100 meters from the landing module to collect large rock samples. This approach should increase the variety of geological data, which China will get from Mars.
