China has successfully launched a Long March missile 5 with a new mysterious satellite TJS-25

11 June 2026 China launched the country's largest missile, the Long March 5 from the starting complex of Venchan (Hainan Island) in the direction of the transition geosynchronous orbit (GTO). Chinese Aerospace Scientific and Technical Corporation (Hull) confirmed the success of the launch, having informed, that the payload was the Tongxin Jishu Shiyan-25 satellite (TJS-25). The main task of the satellite is to test multi-band and high-speed communication technologies.

The TJS series mainly operates in geostationary orbit. According to Western analysts, satellites of this series can perform secret missions, including radio reconnaissance, early warning missions and satellite inspection activities in support of the People's Liberation Army of China. Most of these satellites were launched on the Long March 3B rocket. Using the Long March 5, capable of outputting 14 000 kg per GTO, testifies to that, that the TJS-25 is heavier, than those, which were launched using the Long March 3B (5500 kg per GTO).

The mission was the 11th launch of the Long March rocket 5. CASC's statement stated, that nine technical improvements have been implemented to increase the reliability of the medium. A successful mission paves the way for the launch of the Chang'e-7 lunar south pole landing mission, which is expected around August. China is now launching Long March reusable missiles, which come close to the Long March in terms of payload 5, and also uses Long March technologies 5 to develop the Long March 10, designed to deliver Chinese astronauts to the moon.

Launching the Long March 5 pond, upon application by CASC, 650-m by launching a series of Long March missiles. The milestone underscores China's growing pace of launches — it came roughly eight months after reaching the b 600 launches.
