30 November 2025 year from the Wenchang Space Center on Hainan Island (the south of the country) launched the Long March 7A launch vehicle with the Shijian-28 satellite. The launch of Shijian-28 was China's 76th orbital attempt in 2025 year.
CASC Corporation reported, that the Shijian-28 was developed by the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST), which is part of this giant of the space and defense industry. Launches of satellites of this series are usually accompanied by only a brief description of the purpose of the device, however, no CASC this time, nor did the state media provide any information. The Shijian program covers a wide range of satellites, which are commonly used to conduct experiments, testing of new technologies and verification of operating practices in orbit. Shijian-28's orbital data may later provide some clues as to its purpose.
To 28 November was expected, that the Shijian-28 mission will follow China's first orbital launch with a first-stage reentry attempt, however, the attempt was initially aborted, and later postponed indefinitely for unknown reasons. Commercial company Landspace was preparing for the test launch of its Zhuque-3 medium-lift reusable rocket from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Range, which was planned for 28 November. Due to strong wind, the flight was postponed several times, but
29 Chinese media reported in November, that the ground team stopped training, without specifying a new date.
The delay comes amid new government policies in the commercial space sector.
29 Nov. China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced the creation of a new department, which will oversee the country's rapidly growing commercial space sector. This comes days after the CNSA announced an action plan to integrate commercial space into the overall national space development program.
