5 November 2025 private American company Astranis, which manufactures and operates communications satellites for geostationary orbit, announced the creation of a mobile special network service called Vanguard. The service will use small geostationary satellites to extend the range of point-to-point communications in support of disaster relief operations and secure defense operations.
Thanks to Vanguard, true wireless communications can be implemented, which will protect internal communications from getting into the wider Internet. The new service will allow customers to quickly set up a private network, able to transmit voice, video and data anywhere
within the beam of the Astranis broadband satellite. Vanguard services are available everywhere, where Astranis satellites operate and from now on every client of the company can use them.
