During the Space Tech Expo (18-20 November 2025 year, city. Bremen) the Italian-Dutch company Revolv Space presented a new generation of solar panel drives (Solar Array Drive Assembly, NOW) for medium-sized platforms and constellations called MARA.
Revolv Space positions MARA as a solution, which will fill the gap between the solar panels, rigidly fixed on the body of the satellite, and expensive custom designed SADAs from traditional large manufacturers. According to the company, the new generation of solar panel drives is an evolution of the small SARA drive and is intended for energy-intensive satellites with a mass from 300 to 1000 Kg.
Revolv sees great potential for using MARA, in particular, in the European protected IRIS constellation. The new rotation system is based on Revolv's own space-proven rotary capsule technology and significantly increases the power generation capabilities for satellite platforms with masses up to 1000 kg and electric capacity up to 10 kW.
