Space debris prevented Chinese astronauts from returning to Earth

China Manned Space Flight Agency (CMSA) delayed the return of the Shenzhou-20 manned mission to Earth, which should have happened 5 November 2025 year, due to the probable collision of the ship with a fragment of space debris.

An analysis of the impact and risk assessment is currently underway. At the same time, CMSA does not report any details of the incident - where exactly the fragment went and when the impact occurred,
and they also do not name the new date of departure of taikonauts to Earth.

"Tiangong" station, on which mission "Shenzhou-20" arrived 24 April 2025 year, is designed for the permanent stay of three people and can support a crew of six people during a shift. If the consequences of the collision are considered dangerous, this could become a serious problem for the continued maintenance of such a large crew, since it is not known how quickly China will be able to launch a new ship to the station. Taikonauts will probably have to return to Earth on "Shenzhou-21", however, in such a case the crew, that remained on board the station, will lose the opportunity to evacuate for a while in the event of a serious threat.
