Maxar and Ecopia AI Launch Global Platform for Accurate 2D and 3D Vector Maps

Maxar Intelligence Company, a leading provider of high-precision geospatial information, in partnership with Ecopia AI announced the launch of Vivid Features, the most accurate 2D and 3D vector maps globally.

The service provides access to interconnected vector data about building contours, road centerlines and land cover types for any point on the planet, significantly simplifying the process of creating and updating digital maps.

Vivid Features combines ultra-high resolution satellite imagery from Maxar, software for spatial integration and AI technology Ecopia. It allows you to create vector maps, which remain consistent regardless of sensor or shooting time. Already today, the product is used by US government structures, international organizations and commercial companies, providing generation over 1 billion building contours in the world.

The product solves one of the most difficult problems of digital mapping — the long and time-consuming process of creating consistent vector data for the entire planet. Thanks to automation, this process is much faster and more efficient, which eliminates the need for thousands of hours of manual work.

The use of Maxar's proprietary software for automated spatial integration enables georeferencing of high-resolution images 30 cm to the company's global 3D database with an accuracy of 3 city. Based on this data, the Ecopia system creates vector maps, which inherit accuracy and remain stably tied to real-world coordinates even when the base images are updated. This eliminates the problem of "shifting" the vectors, characteristic of traditional cartographic approaches.

The new approach also responds to one of the key challenges of the market — the need to obtain an up-to-date three-dimensional picture of the Earth and its changes. Despite the daily volume of satellite data, creating accurate 3D vector maps has traditionally been a difficult task. The collaboration between Maxar and Ecopia opens up access to more operational and scalable mapping solutions.

The Maxar satellite constellation is capable of collecting daily almost 7 million km² of images of ultra-high accuracy and to carry out repeated surveying of the same territory to 15 times a day. This ensures that the data is constantly updated and creates the basis for the maps, reflecting dynamic changes in the world.
