The Artemis II lunar mission can start already 1 April

The management of NASA made a decision about that, that a new attempt to launch the Artemis II mission to the Moon will take place already 1 April. For this, the SLS rocket must be taken to the launch pad 19 March. The Orion spacecraft is set to depart on its journey from launch pad 39B. But before that happens, engineers have to conduct a full launch rehearsal on site with fuel and oxidizer refueling the rocket.

During a similar inspection in February, hydrogen leaks from the tanks were discovered. And it was to overcome this problem that the SLS had to be brought back, and launch plans had to be pushed back by several weeks.

Actually, the present haste is caused by the desire to somehow interrupt this delay. If repeated problems are detected, the launch will be postponed again, however, there are still start windows in April. If the problems are serious, the rocket will be brought back to the shop.
