Mitsubishi Electric is investing approx 1,6 billion yen to the American company Array Labs

The Japanese corporation Mitsubishi Electric invested 10 millions of dollars (close 1,6 billion yen) in the American startup Array Labs as part of a strategic round of financing with a total volume 21 a million dollars.

This investment is accompanied by a strategic partnership agreement to jointly develop and commercialize moving target tracking satellite services for the defense sector in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ключові аспекти технології та партнерства

Технологія AMTI: The main goal of cooperation is to market AMTI space technology (Airborne Moving Target Indicator) – radar detection and continuous tracking of aerial objects (planes, missiles) directly from orbit.

Distributed satellite architecture: Instead of using one large and expensive radar satellite, Array Labs creates clusters ("swarms") smaller ones, cheaper to manufacture satellites the size of a suitcase.

Multistatic radar: The satellites fly in precise formation and use advanced signal processing algorithms to coordinate transmitters and receivers, забезпечуючи високу точність спостереження крізь хмари в будь-який час доби.

Графік розгортання: Array Labs plans to phase-demonstrate the performance of its satellite-based radar array in orbit during 2027-2028.

For the American startup Array Labs, which already has contracts with DARPA, US Navy and Air Force, the involvement of Mitsubishi Electric opens a direct and fast sales channel to the closed defense market of Japan and other countries of the region.

From my side, the Japanese giant combines its own capacity for the production of satellite systems with the flexible and innovative technologies of the US private sector, strengthening regional deterrence amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Indo-Pacific region.
