Rand Center Research shows, that the Russian Federation is concerned about the possibility of discharging USA with the use of space. And any state action in space can be mistakenly interpreted by Moscow.
US should be ready to resist Russia, Which in the case of conflict can be used advanced cosmic and anticossmic technologies, as well as applying lessons, obtained during the invasion of Ukraine. This is stated in the Rand's analytical center study, ordered by US space forces.
In a report called Exploring Factors for U.S.-Russia Crisis Stability In Space, it is about that, that Russia demonstrates the highest level “tolerance” to the risk in the space sphere and strengthens its aggressive position, believing, that escalation can be controlled.
The study emphasizes, that Russian analysts are concerned about US discharges using space. These fears are exacerbated.
Rand analysts offer two key recommendations for US officials:
Readiness for lack of communication: In the absence of significant cooperation with Russia, it is necessary to take into account the inflated perception of the Russian threat and the readiness of Moscow to go risks.
Unjustified expectations: It is not necessary to consider Russia's limited activity in space during the Ukrainian conflict as an indicator of unwillingness to take risks in other circumstances.
Thus the report Rand emphasizes, that tensions in the space sphere between the USA and the Russian Federation continue to grow. Lessons, received by Moscow from the conflict in Ukraine, may change the nature of future crises, and this requires a more cautious approach from the States and readiness for new challenges in space.
