At the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025 Electro Optic Systems in Sydney (EOS) presented the new Atlas Space Control system — a highly efficient laser complex for satellite protection and space control.
Atlas is part of the EOS family of laser systems and is designed to counter the growing threats in space, where more and more satellites and debris appear every year. The system can be deployed in various formats - stationary, mobile or portable, which makes it suitable for use anywhere in the world.
Atlas is equipped with a modern telescope and dome, allowing operators to track objects in orbit in real-time like daytime, and at night. The system determines the position, the speed and trajectory of even faintly visible vehicles or space debris. This allows you to create a more complete picture of the movement of objects and respond to potential threats in a timely manner.
A special feature of Atlas is its scalable power levels. They make it possible to adapt the influence from passive deterrence to direct measures of space control. in addition, the complex is integrated with international space awareness networks and multi-domain operations, which enhances data sharing and operational coordination among allies.
CEO of EOS Andreas Schwer emphasized, that space is becoming a "disputed area", and satellites, which provide as a defense, and civil services, are under increasing threat. According to him, Atlas combines the company's 40 years of experience in laser technology with modern defense needs, providing a reliable tool for maintaining freedom of action in space.
