NASA delays Artemis II launch

3 February NASA announced, which moves the launch date of the Artemis II mission to the following March, as engineers discovered a leak of liquid hydrogen during a critical pre-launch test. The decision to postpone the start, which was previously scheduled for February (Approximately 8 February), was accepted due to technical problems, that arose during the final test.

Hydrogen leak: During refueling of the SLS rocket, a leak of liquid hydrogen was detected in the connection system with ground equipment. Engineers recorded a malfunction of the valve of the sealing system of the Orion ship's hatch. Florida's record-breaking cold weather also caused disruptions to cameras and other ground equipment.

NASA is currently considering launch windows from 6 by 9 March and 11 March. Four astronauts of the mission were temporarily released from quarantine. They will return to isolation mode about two weeks before the new start date.

In the near future, the teams will analyze the received data and conduct a repeat test, to make sure the flight is safe.
