The NASA team has re-established contact with the Space Vehicle-1 satellite (SV1) TRACERS missions (Tandem Reconnection and Cusp Electrodynamics Reconnaissance Satellites), who temporarily lost contact. Specialists are now analyzing the operation of its systems, to determine the cause of the failure and gradually return the apparatus to scientific operations.
The TRACERS mission studies the Earth's magnetosphere and the exchange of energy between its components. The loss of communication with SV1 led to gaps in the joint observations of the two satellites, що є критичним для наукових цілей програми.
Engineers have already restored the communication channel, but the device is still not fully operational. There are several stages ahead: downloading telemetry, verification of calibration of scientific instruments and testing of subsystems. Only then will SV1 be able to return to full-fledged research.
NASA emphasizes, that reestablishing contact is an important step forward, but the work on diagnostics and stabilization of the device continues. Додаткова інформація про стан SV1 буде оприлюднена пізніше.
