NASA tests the imitation of monthly gravity to prepare useful loads up to the month

NASA gave 17 technologies, devices and experiments the ability to practice on the moon… not even getting there. Instead it was a flight test on board vehicle, adapted to simulate monthly gravity for about two minutes.

The test began 4 February 2025 year Fr. 10:00 CET with the launch of Blue Origin's New Shepard reusable suborbital rocket system in West Texas. Supported by NASA's Flight Opportunities program, the Kent-headquartered company, Washington State, expanded the flight capabilities of its New Shepard capsule, to reproduce the gravity of the moon, which is about one-sixth of Earth's, during suborbital flight.

NASA's Flight Opportunities program not only provided "seats" for technology aboard this flight - for 16 payloads inside the capsule plus one, installed externally, -but also contributed to the modernization of New Shepard, to provide an environment, necessary to increase readiness for the Moon and other space exploration missions.

Flight Opportunities is part of the agency's Space Technology Mission Directorate and is managed by NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center.
