Open Cosmos announced, which will form the basis of its low-orbit constellation ConnectedCosmos 192 satellites. The company plans to launch more than 96 satellites to the end 2028 year in order to provide full global coverage to 2030 year. The next launch is planned for the end of this year. The constellation is designed for the state, institutional
and commercial customers, that require secure and resilient communication with full control over critical data, offering a European alternative to existing solutions.
The constellation architecture provides nationally managed network capacity, lateral transmission of large volumes of data through the space segment and operation in conditions of opposition to global navigation systems, bypassing vulnerable ground stations and submarine cables. ConnectedCosmos is used as a transport layer for Earth observation satellites, which allows you to go from raw data to actionable solutions within a single secure loop. Thanks to optical intersatellite channels, a sovereign space network is being formed, resistant to electronic warfare and cyber attacks.
The company develops the constellation at its own European production base, capable of producing one satellite per day, and explores a cooperative model of a federation of European systems to increase flexibility and scalability. Open Cosmos is also in talks with launch service providers for additional missions in the period since the end 2026 to the middle 2027 year.
