Virtual Institute of Small NASA Space Space Systems (S3vi) announced the official release of the long -awaited report on modern technologies of small spacecraft for 2024 year. This significant achievement has become possible due to the contribution of many devoted people from NASA, who kindly supported the preparation of the document as authors and reviewers.
Report for 2024 The year can be found on the Internet at HTTPS://www.nasa.gov/smallsat-institute/sst-soa. The report is also available in PDF format as a single document, containing all the contents, as well as separate sections, available on the respective web pages. This edition 2024 year shows updates in several directions, in particular:
- "Flying in a group, zooming in and distance operations" in the section "Guidance, navigation and control";
- «Адитивне виробництво» в розділі «Конструкції, матеріали та механізми»;
- «Зв’язок у вільному просторі» в розділі «Зв’язок»;
- Orbital Services in the "Complete Spacecraft Platforms" section.
As in previous editions, the report provides an overview of the state-of-the-art SmallSat technologies and their development status, які обговорюються у відкритій літературі. Звіт не має на меті бути вичерпним представленням усіх технологій, доступних на даний момент для спільноти малих космічних апаратів, and the inclusion of technology in the report does not constitute an endorsement by NASA. Sources in the development of the report include manufacturers' data sheets, press releases, articles from conferences, magazine articles, public documents provided by government institutions and news articles. Читачам рекомендується звертатися до компаній для отримання додаткової інформації щодо продуктивності та зрілості описаних технологій. During the development of the report, companies were encouraged to release test and flight data, whenever possible, so that they can be properly recorded. It should be noted, that technology maturity markers may change as the payload changes, mission requirements, reliability considerations and the associated test/flight environment.
Work is currently underway on the report 2025 year, and organizations are invited to submit technologies for consideration for inclusion in the 1 August 2025 year.
