Pakistan blocks the launch of satellite Internet

In Pakistan, the process of launching broadband services with direct access from satellites has been suspended, such as Starlink, OneWeb, Kuiper also SES/Jio. Despite the expectation of investment, projects ended up in "bureaucratic limbo".

Key obstacles create delays in the work of federal institutions. The Ministry of IT and Telecommunications was unable to resolve the disputes, that block approval and policy making. In addition, the final regulatory framework for the regulation of satellite Internet has not yet been adopted.

According to local sources, registration of five operators, including SpaceCell (SSST), is delayed due to the slow pace of work by the Pakistan Space Council (PSARB), which is responsible for space technology licensing.

Earlier, the Federal Ministry of IT announced the start of services at the end 2025 year, however, the lack of a legal framework puts these plans at risk.
